IMPORTANT: Following is a listing of children waiting for sponsorship while they wait to find their forever families. All children included in this listing are 'waiting children'. All are cleared for adoption. They may be waiting because they have special needs or perhaps because they are older or part of a sibling group. All children listed have been 'cleared' for international adoption. In order to protect the privacy of the children, India will not allow photographs to be displayed on the internet. However, the agency contact information is provided so please feel free to ask for photographs and further information on these children, and others who wait. Be sure to include the child's name and birth date when inquiring.


Special Additions Waiting Children

SAI currently has information on the following children who are waiting for families in India.

UPDATED March 2006         

DEE

Sex:  Female           Age: 7 1/2 years , Presumably born on 05.04.1998, but could be older. Deepa is considered to be a healthy child and is developmentally on target with her peers.

RUS

DOB: 6-18-04. Rushi is developing normally but this little one needs blood transfusions as he has thalassemia. Please check out this link for further information on thalassemia: http://www.thalassaemia.org.cy/About%20Thalassaemia.htm

BAB

Baby was born on 8th October 1998.  She was affected by polio but she walks now without support. She has some delays but is developing well.

DHA    ON HOLD

DOB 7-24-03. Dharmik is a baby boy who is developing very well despite his hearing impairment. He has mild hearing loss but he hears and is able to respond to voice. The children's home says he is an endearing and easy-going baby boy.

4-05 Update: Dharmik has caught up with developmental milestones and interacts well with others. He babbles and understands simple commands. He walks on his own, and is said to be developing normally. The children’s home says he is only considered to have mild hearing impairment in both ears.

PRI

DOB: 9-24-2003. This child may have some mild hearing loss in his left ear that may be correctable (conductive). Pri is a sweet little boy and doing well, and we have all medicals. Update 12 05: A visitor said that Pritam does have some hearing, as he responds to voice/sound. 

SHA 

Shailaja is a sweet and sometimes shy little girl who was born September 27, 2000. She has had surgery for bilateral club feet and other orthopedic issues. She is considered to be developing well at this time, she is having speech therapy. A recent visitor said she seems to be making some strides in her development. Shailaja has been in care since birth.

4-05 Update: Shailaja can stand and take steps with support. She recognizes staff and friends. Shailaja is able to speak in complete sentences and plays well with other children.

PRA   

Prasad is growing up! He is a handsome young boy with big dark eyes. He was born on February 1, 2000. Prasad is a friendly and happy child, and plays well with the other children. Prasad is very curious and loves to interact with others. He is considered to be meeting his developmental milestones. Prasad had tested Hep B positive, but is now testing negative.

A visiting adoptive mother recently observed:

Prasad is a lively child, I saw him enter the children’s home after his school. He appears to be open, playful and quite charming. His friends are Shilpa and Ragini who attend school as well. Development seems in sync with age. 

Note: Prasad must be placed before he turns 7 years old, or he may go to a Government home. We only have a few months left to find a family for Prasad.

KOL

Koli is said to be around 8 years old.  Koli is doing well in school.

UDA

Uday was born August 15, 2001. He is considered to be healthy, and developing age appropriately at this time. Uday has been in care since shortly after birth.

A visiting adoptive mother recently observed:

Uday seems to be a very healthy and well-nourished toddler. He likes to play with teddy bears. I saw him only once during play time, during which he seemed to relate well to the other kids. A strong little boy who will grow and develop well. He likes to eat with abandon. 

Update 12-05: Uday is calm and quiet and though developing within normal limits,  is delayed in speech.

MAN

Baby boy Manit, DOB 4-20-03 is considered to be healthy and developing age appropriately and is meeting all milestones. He is a sweet baby that loves to interact with caretakers, staff and other children. Manit is said to have a heart condition called Atrial Septal Defect. Update 3/06:  The children's home is saying that Manit is considered to be developing normally and we now have updated and current medicals.    

MUD

Mudit was born 9-19-04. He is healthy and despite the fact that he is blind in both eyes, is active and developing normally. 

KAR

DOB: 1-18-04  This baby boy is said to be healthy and developing normally despite the fact that he has thalassemia. Karthik is bright and loves his caretakers and staff.

MAM

Mamoni  is said to be around 8 years old.  Mamoni is doing well in school.

MOU & ANI

These sisters are age 5 (Anita) & 10 (Mousumi).  They are developing normally and considered to be healthy.  Mousumi is doing well in school, and Anita does well at her nursery school. 

DEV

Deva is said to be around 7 years old, but could be older.  He was found abandoned and has been in care for a few years. He is attending school. Deva speaks Hindi. He is said to enjoy being with the other children, and appears to be very artistic and loves crafts.
